Why the Big Deal About Easter?
Perfect re-creation required a perfect sacrifice. No ordinary human was good enough to pay the sentence for our evil. It took Jesus, God’s only Son through a human woman. Contrary to bad media, Jesus is perfect. Jesus willingly took the death sentence for our evil. Then He rose, proving re-creation is possible (for you too). But you have to be deeply sorry for your evil (not just sorry you got caught) and friend Jesus. That’s why all the symbols of new life, like eggs, chicks, and such. The Easter Bunny is fun, and maybe helps make Easter special, but don’t let him steal the true meaning of Easter. Remember: Only Jesus gives true life.
The Bible says: 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 18 But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
13 But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:13
