Why and How To Live in This World
Why Live in This World?
We have troubles and struggles, heartaches and setbacks. Others hurt us. Sometimes we hurt others. Sometimes we hurt ourselves. We might reason life is too hard, or we don’t deserve to live. This question might come up: Why live in this world? Here are just three important reasons:
1. God knew you before you were even conceived in the womb. Regardless of how you were conceived, God knows you, loves you, and has you here for a reason. It might not feel like it, but you have a divine purpose.
2. Because God has you in this world, it is up to Him when you “check out”. Sure, you could force the issue, but then you would have to answer to God!
3. Others need you. God loves the world. God wants your help and love!
How To Live in This World
If you don’t feel up to the challenge, it’s because you’re not—not without the help of God, Jesus, and God’s Holy Spirit! God, in His love, sent Jesus to take the death penalty for your sins and mistakes! Jesus listened to God and sacrificed Himself to pay for your sins and mistakes! God raised Jesus from the dead! Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to those of us who do apologize to God and do let Jesus pay for their sins. The Holy Spirit encourages, advises, and reminds us.
So, don’t give up! Apologize to God. Let Jesus pay for your sins! Ask God and Jesus to help you live your divine purpose! Let them give you Holy Spirit help too! That’s how really living really starts! That’s how to live in this world!
But there’s so much more! Now that you’ve apologized to God, you have the peace and joy of getting things right with your Maker! You know Jesus made it possible, and you are right with Jesus too! You have asked God for help and have Him in your corner. With the Holy Spirit, you have more direction and can begin finding your purpose! You have eternity in Paradise to look forward to when God does call you home!
This doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges. You’ll still find yourself sinning and making mistakes, though less often. But now you know how to take care of that. You apologize to God again and get forgiveness through Jesus again. (Jesus lives forever to help you stay right with God forever.) You get back to trying to help instead of sinning.
Another challenge is that there will still be trouble in this world. Thankfully those troubles don’t follow us to Paradise! Jesus told us about this, saying, “…I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Just try to deal with trouble God’s way.
Part of the trouble in this world is hostility toward believers in Jesus. If you’ve trusted Jesus to pay for your sins, that hostility might also be directed toward you. Jesus even loved his enemies. So, the challenge is to handle hostility like Jesus did. Ask God’s help. The worst they can do to your body is kill it, which sends you home to Paradise. There you’ll get a much better body that lives forever.
But even with the challenges there is tremendous joy! It’s the kind of joy knowing God has your back no matter what! It’s the kind of joy knowing you are loved! It’s the kind of joy of belonging to God’s family! And there are friends you make because of Jesus! It’s the kind of joy that does not depend on good circumstances in this world! It’s a joy that comes from loving people and doing good like God and Jesus!
That’s the basics. You can take it as far as you can God’s way. There’s too much to learn and practice all at once. So, don’t sweat it. Just make an effort.
Three big helps on how to live in this world are:
- Prayer. Just start by praying to God your own way from your own heart in your own words. God looks at the heart. Ask direction from God.
- Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, try to get one. If you have a phone or computer, try to get a Bible app. The Bible helps us on how to live in this world.
- Fellowship. Meet with others who have gotten right with God through Jesus. You can help each other live in this world. You can enjoy their good company.
Remember, if you’ve gotten right with God through Jesus, you are already a citizen of Paradise! This world is not your final home. You’re just passing through. So, don’t get too attached to this world. Don’t dive into its sins. You have to live in this world for now, but don’t let yourself go to Hell with it! Paradise awaits!
There is so much more I could tell you. But there isn’t enough space and time. So let me just sum it up like this: Get right and stay right with God through Jesus, stick with them no matter what, do your best to help them, and May God Bless You!
8 Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8
5 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
