I’ll Be List’ning
Jesus left to prepare a place for those who repent of their sins to God and trust Jesus to pay the death penalty for their sins. Jesus wants us to wait patiently for Him and do what God wants while we wait. Jesus said, 24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. 27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. 28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice, 29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me…” John 5:24-30
11 All the angels were standing around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before his throne, and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might, be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
13 One of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are arrayed in the white robes, who are they, and where did they come from?”
14 I told him, “My lord, you know.”
He said to me, “These are those who came out of the great suffering. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood. 15 Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them. 16 They will never be hungry or thirsty any more. The sun won’t beat on them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb who is in the middle of the throne shepherds them and leads them to springs of life-giving waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelation 7:11-17
The Bible also talks about how, after the dead in Christ are raised, those in Christ who are still alive will also be raised. (I Thessalonians 4:17) Will you be ready? Can you say, “I’ll be list’ning”? The challenge is to prepare spiritually, as well as musically.
This is an old, traditional, spiritual song that is considered public property. The authors might be unknown to us, but not to God. They had insight. Based on that insight, I don’t think they would mind if you made the song your own, and spread it to help others get right with God. Please keep the heart of the message.
