Freedom at Risk! 

  With Independence Day weekend upon us, there is one vital freedom we risk losing, that’s going under the radar.  Our hearts should be concerned.  It’s a freedom our nation understood in times past, and our soldiers fought to defend.  But it seems it is being silently (and not so silently) pooh-poohed as “blind”, “narrow-minded”, “prejudiced”, “political”, and lately, even “violent”.

  What am I talking about?  It’s the influence and freedom of Christians.  It’s the freedom for Christians to gather, worship God and Christ, and especially, to share our faith, and influence government (just like every other religion and non-religion).  ‘Freedom of Religion’ is sometimes redefined as freedom from religion.  Separation of Church and State is sometimes redefined from its original intent, that of keeping the President from determining the outcome of the Church.

  Other countries have lost this freedom entirely.  Remember the old hippie song that goes “you don’t know what ya got ‘til it’s gone!”?  Well, in many countries, the freedom to gather and worship Christ as you wish is gone.  In still other countries it is in serious peril.  And, in many ways, our country seems headed toward the same fate.

  Soon, I fear organizations that promote religious liberty, especially Christian liberty, will be further burdened even more with prejudice against Christians among our allies, and even within America!  People in other countries are dying or being persecuted because they love and worship Jesus.  Even many of those who shine Jesus and help unbelievers are being imprisoned or worse!

  You don’t hear much of this on the American news anymore.  But, even in America, Christians are being ignored, misrepresented, demoralized, and worse.  America at large is becoming both desensitized to it, and unaware of it.  If you don’t believe me, just take one quick peek at what is happening to Christians.

  Just two sites among many that should definitely open eyes are ‘The Voice of the Martyrs’ at https://www.persecution.com and ‘barnabasaid’ at https://www.barnabasaid.org for example.  If you have any doubts about the credibility of this article, I highly suggest truly seeing what’s on one or both of those sites.  And don’t just think they’re begging for money.  Although it is certainly needed, if you don’t have the money, we all would just appreciate your awareness and encouragement.  Freedom at Risk!
