Judge or Judge Not?

Introduction:

I’m Pete. God loves you!

The topic today: Should we judge or not? If not, why? If so, how? What’s in the Bible?

First-Glance Contradictions:

Judge not, that you be not judged.” Matthew 7:1 (ESV)

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” John 7:24 (ESV)

Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 1 Corinthians 6:3 (ESV)

In Short:

Google Search AI, May 18, 2026 puts it this way:

In short, the Bible tells you to stop acting as a self-righteous judge of other’s hearts, but start using wise, loving discernment to navigate truth and error.

My observation: When you look at the context of those verses, especially the verses around 1 Corinthians 6:3 above, you see that there are occasions where evil should be carefully identified, called out, judged, and stopped in as loving a way as possible, to stop hurt.

An Eye-Opener:

A real eye-opener on this subject was made available to General Invitation Christian Fellowship via permission to link for your personal viewing a message from Chippewa Valley Bible Church, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. For any other use of that message contact and receive permission from CVBC. Special thanks to CVBC for this blessing! The speaker is Chad Strasburg. The teaching originates from Matthew 7:1-6. Please view https://www.cvbc.net/sermon-archive and find Matthew 7:1-6. It will help you see. May God Bless You!
