Final Move

Introduction:

I’m Pete. God loves you!

The topic today: Our final move.

Have you ever had to move from one home to another? Have you ever had to move your business location, or your desk? Have you ever gone through helping someone else move? Will you need to downsize as you age, and find a simpler place to live? Take heart. There is a happy end to all this moving, should you choose it!

The Struggle:

Before you even grew up and left home, your parents may have had to move you and the family. Maybe they were promoted at work to a new location. Maybe their workplace closed, or they were laid off or quit for some reason, and they had to move near a new job or family. Or maybe you were moved due to their divorce. Maybe they just found a better home for you all. If you were old enough, you might have been expected to help with the move.

When you grew up, you might have felt responsibility to find your own work and your own place. You had to move. Maybe you moved to college or trade school. Maybe you moved for work, or for some other reason. Maybe you moved in with a friend. Maybe you found a spouse, married, and moved. Maybe you had kids, so moved to a bigger house. Maybe your kids grew up and moved away or your spouse died, so your housing was no longer right for you. Maybe you grew old and needed an easier place to live. The reasons could be many. But moving has always involved some effort and struggle.

It seems there is no end to the moving. Even when we think we are finally where we belong, things change, and another move becomes necessary. Will the struggle end?

While I might not have had the same moving struggles as you, I have struggled too. My parents moved multiple times due to work. My father got sick, and we had to move. I moved to be close to the schooling I wanted. I moved near my first job. My work involved subcontracting, which meant constantly moving to where the latest assignment was. I quit counting how many times I’d moved after thirteen moves. During that time I married and moved so that my wife could be near her schooling. When she graduated, we moved again. She divorced me, and I moved. I later remarried and we moved, and then moved again for work. We retired and we moved. Each move involved struggles.

I never noticed how much unnecessary junk and baggage I had until it was time to move it all again! Why carry around so much junk? And there was the expense and hassle of finding the means and folks to help, along with organizing the move, so much boxing, lifting, moving, unloading, returning equipment, feeding and thanking helpers, and putting everything away all over again! It was always messy, and usually with ordeal.

The Final Move:

Have you ever said, “That’s the last time I’m going to move!”? Well, there is at least one more move we will all have to make. It is the move to our eternal place. Have you made any preparation? If you ignore this, will it go away? No. So, don’t ignore this. Let me help you prepare for your final move. It’s your most important!

God loves you. But He has to deal with your sin before He can let you into His perfect Heaven. He had to deal with my sin too. He dealt with it on the cross of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was the only human who never sinned. As such, He is the only way to pay the sentence for your sins. He willingly took on your sins, and died in your place for your sins, by crucifixion. He gave His sinless body and blood for you, to make you sinless in God’s eyes.

But God requires your repentance, and your faith in His Son Jesus, to complete the deal. They love you, and have already done everything else. Why not repent and put your faith in Jesus? Why not make Heaven your final home? It’s not boring. It’s paradise! (Consider the alternative.) Remember, God loves you!

Some Details:

Joking around that you will “party” in Hell, will never make it so. Also, if you repent, and put your faith in Jesus, God knows you might still slip and sin. So, just keep trying not to sin, and keep repenting. Keep having faith in Jesus. His love and sacrifice for you is eternal. Find a Bible-believing church where salvation through faith in Jesus is the main thing, to make you strong. I want to see you after your final move, in Paradise!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
